Tips to Up Your Smoothie Game

Here are some of our tried and true tactics for smoothie-making:

  1. Invest in a great blender. If you’re anything like us, you will use it almost every day. We both use a Ninja Pro 1000 watt. You can get yours for $79 HERE. It’s so Easy to clean, dishwasher safe and will completely turn ice into snow.
  2. For a thicker consistency, put the bigger things at the bottom of the blender (ice, whole spinach). For thinner, do the opposite.
  3. Frozen fruits and veggies work wonders in a smoothie. Just remember, you’ll need more liquid to make up for the lack of natural water content found in fresh fruit.
  4. If you want a sweeter smoothie, first try adding a banana — it has a tendency to neutralize bitter flavors. Strawberries are always a good addition for a fibrous touch of sweetness. If you really need more sweet, opt for 100% agave nectar or honey. Remember that a little bit goes a long way!
  5. If you like your smoothie less sweetadd a squeeze of lemon or a little frozen lemon concentrate.
  6. For a creamier smoothie, avocado and/or a dollop of plain Greek yogurt work wonders.
